ELSINOE AND ELSIQEST
Marcel V. Locquin, biophysician, doctor of science is the permanent Secretary
of the Engineers french speaking academy (Académie francophone d'ingénieurs).
Very early he becomes passionately fond of the study of mushrooms. These
very mushrooms, with the name that refers to them, slowly lead him to take
an interest in language. Today he is an OCDE and UNESCO consultant for
the languages difficult of access .
The pluridisciplinary Marcel Locquin's angle of vision makes the reading
of his last work very interesting : "L'invention de l'humanité"
(The invention of the humanity), La Nuée Bleue publisher, Strasbourg,
is a panorama of the evolution and socialization of the human.
ELSINOE
The 20 archetypal phonemes
Phonemes are the sound elements of language. Marcel Locquin realized the
statistical analysis of the phonemes, with 80 fossil and 50 living languages,
and studied the emergence of the young child's language. Thus he has been
induced to deduce 20 fundamental phonemes and a particular meaning for
each of them. These "sound-bricks", wich are to be found in every children's
prattle all over the world and being the basis of languages, are the archetypal
phonemes.
The Elsinoe system
Elsinoë is the name of a mushroom. That is also the name of the computer
system conceived and developped since 1975 by Marcel Locquin.
It contains a basis of 10000 sentences expressed and displayed in french.
These sentences are coded by their archetypal phonemes in correlation among
themselves and with the sentences of the asked question . The operator
formulates a question and the software extracts one or several of these
sentences that are then proposed as elements of thought. The question can
be asked in French but in an other language too since it is analysed by
phonemic correlats.
The actual version of Elsinoe has been tested through 30.000 question-answers
about the more varied subjects and has been selected by 3 UNESCO departments
to be the computer partner of international meetings.
ELSIQEST
Elsiquest is a computer system of help to the learning, perfecting and
self-valuation of a learner 's knowledges in a field of specialitiy. It
uses a question-answers game in French.
